Projects in Tanzania include: - The Patandi Primary School for children with disabilities, including the blind, deaf, and the mentally handicapped. Volunteers work with the teachers, providing educational activities for the kids. - WAMATA, an NGO dedicated to community health education and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Volunteers teach English and computer skills and also help in community outreach visits. - Arumeru District Hospital, where volunteers with professional medical experience can work with doctors and nurses and gain useful experience with tropical medicine and in maternity wards. - Nkoaranga Orphan Centre, an orphanage that takes in children, most of whom have lost their parents due to HIV/AIDS, and Moivaro Day Care Centre where volunteers assist with reading, writing, and recreational activities. © 2007 Volunteering.
